Primary Source Activities: 375th Criminal Investigation Division in Iraq

Allow students, in groups or individually, to examine the primary source linked under Resources to the right, while answering the questions below in order. The questions are designed to guide students into a deeper analysis of the source and sharpen associated cognitive skills.

Level I: Description
1.Study the picture for a few moments and tell me all you see in it.
2. What do you think this picture is showing?
3. What kind of car is in the picture?

Level II: Interpretation
1.What could be the occupations of these men?.
2. Can you guess where this picture may have been taken just by looking at it?
3. Can you tell anything about them from their clothing?
4. How do they seem to be feeling? Do you see any differences in the moods or attitudes of the men?

Level III: Analysis
1. What pieces of evidence seen in the picture are most helpful to you?
2.What might you assume about these men from carefully studying all of the facts about the photo?
