Summer Institute Information

The Summer Institute is a graduate-level weeklong seminar that offers participating teachers the opportunity to work closely with a number of the nation's leading scholars. All events are held at the OSU Columbus campus.

OSU faculty members will lecture, lead discussions of common readings, examine primary source documents, and engage teachers in debate and interpretation of recent scholarship and historical methods. Click here to see a detailed schedule.

The theme of our Summer Institute is Transportation. Through plenary and elective sessions we will explore this theme from a variety of angles and in a variety of time periods. Your Reading and Writing Assignment is here.

We encourage all participants to be residential scholars. You will be staying at Drackett Tower , on the OSU Columbus campus. You can find more information about the amenities of Drackett Tower here. However, we recognize that many of you may have to, or prefer to, commute from home.

Meal cards will be provided to all attendees good for breakfast, lunch, and dinner at North Commons.

Please make sure you activate your computer access account BEFORE arriving on campus. Get instructions here. This will improve your ability to work on your group projects.

At the conclusion of the institute, teachers will present completed group projects.
